Summer 6.21.23

Afterwork and its still light out

Like the suns waiting for you to set

The city skyline,

Orange yellow and red

This is the time of our lives now

The famous golden hour in full bloom

If my days are numbered babe I wanna spend em with you

Your subtle intoxication

Makes me wanna

Say remember when?

But the truth is

Baby youre it

Past present and future tense

I drink a cup of the summertime

It smells of cotton and sweet wine

My dreams bubble up

Over. the. edge

And as I lose control I find ….

I’m hanging onto those words you said:

We’re gonna live the good life darlin…

And your eyes were sparklin

As the sun melted behind the lake

Cov-er-ing

A million mistakes

The summer brings a fiery purge within

Now I’m closing my eyes

I just barely see your silhouette

Your hand finds mine in the dark

Over and over again

There havent been enough thunderstorms

They say its a drought

But maybe all that we needed was time to dry out

Smoledering in this summer sun

I can finally come undone

Burn it away

See whats here to stay

And pant my roots in it

Summer always plays hard to get

Reminds me of someone I know

But when shes present

Shes effervescent

8 billion people on earth babe

But we’re all alone

I love the way that your hair falls

How it cant quite hide your eyes

And you watch the finger paint sunset

Reflect back in mine

I love the way that your hold me

Content watching the fading light

The night unfolds around us

Full of bonfires and endless time
